ONGOING PROJECT

I'm fascinated by the "Battigia" (the water's edge),

one of my favorites "Threshold-Spaces”, maybe because

I was born by the sea.

I really like the Italian term: "Battigia".

It comes from "to beat".

It's the space where the wave beats the shore,

where the water meets the land. It's an undefined area that marks the land between high tide and low tide.

​

So it's a "place in motion".

It changes with the passage of time.

​

I like talking about the presences and non-presences

I found within this space of land.

Because the "Battigia" is just like this. It's a place

that changes. It transitions. It's a site which is there

and a site wich is no longer there.
